Our Story
God gives you a little to see what you will do with a lot!
I read Luke 16:10 at some point early in my life and with instant understanding claimed the promise to be true: Whatever gifts, whatever opportunities came my way, I would use them to the extent I was able to bless others for God’s glory.
As I did, true to the promise, I found more and more ways and means to be a blessing.
A little later, a saying came across my path which also left an indelible impression on my life:
"What we keep, we lose. Only what we give remains our own."
Here again, as I began to live this principal -- giving when God gave me an opportunity --
He gave me more and more to give.
In October 2024, when Kate Austin created Flowerfolk, the most gorgeous flower shop ever, located in Milton, GA, she said it felt like she was creating the business for someone else and even recorded this sentiment in her journal.
About 4 years before, I was taking care of my mom and helping my oldest daughter who had recently become a single foster mom and adopted a family of children. Two of the kids have special needs, and I felt a burden on my heart for what they would do for an income when they grew up. Having always loved flowers and gardening with my own grandmother, I signed up for an online floral design course and worked on the assignments everywhere: On the playground at church while I was watching the grandkids, at my mom’s assisted living when she was resting, and just about anywhere I had a few minutes to learn more about floristry. I turned my basement into a floral design studio and even converted our wine cellar into a flower cooler! I had a booth at the Painted Tree for a number of years, and life was good.
Then, on a Friday afternoon in July 2025, my husband went to Flowerfolk to get two wraps for me, as he often did, only to discover Kate and her family were relocating back to San Diego, and the shop was for sale! Within 15 minutes, we were talking with Kate and all of us shed tears of joy. The deal was in motion to be completed within the next month, and I became the proud owner of the flower shop of my dreams not to mention the opportunity of a lifetime!
